SWEPCO Highlights Commitment to Sustainability at Forest Products Decarbonization Forum

The event attracted a diverse audience comprising TAMUT students, esteemed professors, and industry professionals. SWEPCO Energy Efficiency was represented by Leslie Williams, Energy Efficiency Program Coordinator in Texas and Louisiana; Doyal Reed, Customer Service Account Representative; and Montana Reed, Energy Efficiency Program Coordinator.  Their team took part as a vendor showcasing their commitment to advancing sustainability initiatives in the region.

Jeff Thigpen, SWEPCO's Alternative Energy Resource Manager, delivered an insightful presentation titled "Energy Efficiency & Clean/Renewable Energy Impacts to the Electric Grid," during the forum that included more than 120 participants. Thigpen’s talk provided dialogue on the pivotal role of electric utilities and energy efficiency in mitigating environmental impacts.

"Participating in TAMUT's Forest Products Decarbonization Forum was an excellent opportunity to engage with students and professionals passionate about sustainable energy solutions,” said Thigpen. “It's inspiring to see the enthusiasm and dedication within our community to address environmental challenges and drive positive change."

Throughout the day, SWEPCO representatives talked with students and shared insight about their jobs, career opportunities and answered questions about energy efficiency.
