Effective, Jan. 30, 2007, Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO), a unit of American Electric Power (AEP), will begin providing electrical, billing and customer service for approximately 7,000 Mutual Energy SPP (ME SPP) customers in the North Texas Panhandle. The change will bring lower prices, with estimated annual savings of approximately 15 to 20 percent depending on customer classification (residential, commercial, industrial, etc.). Customers will continue to be served by the same local Panhandle service employees, Customer Solutions Center and billing operations, just under a new name – SWEPCO. Customers in the North Texas Panhandle may call SWEPCO 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to request customer service and billing information from the Customer Solutions Center.
