Peter Kimani

Director, Regulatory Services

Peter Kimani is SWEPCO's Director of Regulatory Services in Texas. He is responsible for regulatory matters in Texas and with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Peter joined Electric Transmission of Texas (ETT) as director of Regulatory and Finance in 2019. ETT is a joint venture between subsidiaries of AEP and Berkshire Hathaway Energy Company. Prior to joining ETT, Peter held positions of increasing responsibility within AEPSC in Accounting and Regulatory Services. Peter also provided regulatory accounting services for SWEPCO rate cases and formula rate plan filings prior to joining ETT. Peter has prepared numerous utility regulatory filings and filed testimony for SWEPCO and other AEP West operating companies before the regulatory commissions, including the Public Utility Commission of Texas.

Before joining AEP, Peter worked as a forensic accounting consultant managing high-profile large and complex engagements at a regional and a national consulting firm. Prior to that, he worked as a public accountant managing financial audits of not for profit, governmental and private organizations.

Peter earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Egerton University in Kenya, a master's degree in accounting and a master's degree in International Affairs from Ohio University. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Ohio.

He, his wife Lilian and two sons reside in Austin, Texas.
