At first glance, the Trinity Bluff community in north Shreveport looks like any other new neighborhood. But this new development could turn out to be the future of homes and the communities around them.

Trinity Bluff is a collaboration between DSLD Homes and SWEPCO. While DSLD is building one of a kind energy efficient homes, SWEPCO is building the first of its kind solar/battery microgrid in North Louisiana adjacent to this community. If the power goes out, this microgrid can keep the lights on for a period of time in Trinity Bluff.

On top of that, every home is built with energy efficient features and appliances including a heat pump, smart thermostat, induction cooktop, level 2 electric vehicle charger, enhanced insulation, hybrid water heater, and more.

SWEPCO Customer Service and Marketing Director Paul Pratt believes that collaborations like Trinity Bluff will only increase in years to come.  

“Each home is extremely efficient. So at the end of the day the customer's wallet is enhanced,” Pratt said. “We feel like this setup is the future. You will start to see developments take into account resilience because you can’t prevent tornadoes, you can’t prevent hurricanes. Those things are going to happen. But how can we minimize outage time for customers in those bad weather situations and on top of that produce energy in a renewable fashion.”
