Photo by Terry Stanfill, the former SWEPCO chemist who was the driving force behind the development of the Eagle Watch Nature Trail. One of the on-site pavilions is named in Stanfill's memory, following his passing in 2021. He was a nature lover and talented wildlife photographer.
GENTRY, Ark.—As we celebrate National Bird Day, it's an honor to invite you all to experience the natural splendor of SWEPCO's Eagle Watch Nature Trail in Gentry, Arkansas. Nestled in Flint Creek Power Plant’s landscape, this trail is not just a testament to SWEPCO’s commitment to environmental stewardship but also a haven for bird lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.
The Eagle Watch Nature Trail is a serene wildlife oasis that offers a unique opportunity to witness a variety of bird species in their natural habitat. The highlight, depending on the season, is the chance to observe the majestic bald eagle, America's national bird, in its natural environment. At least 144 bird species have been spotted at the Eagle Watch Nature Trail. Take a look at the printable?bird species checklist. It’s a great guide to take along your hike to see how many bird species you can see.

It's a day to reflect on the role birds play in our ecosystem and how we, as a community, can contribute to their conservation.
