Amanda Keeney

Director, Communications

Amanda Keeney serves as director, Corporate Communications. Together with her team she has responsibility for all aspects of internal and external communications functions for the operating company across its multi-state service territory. Amanda joined AEP SWEPCO in 2023 and most recently was employed by Alcoa Corp's global corporate communications team managing aspects of both internal and external communications strategy and execution, including change management, executive positioning, and social media channel growth.

Keeney brings experiences in both corporate and agency-settings working on behalf of some of the world's largest companies and best known brands. Prior to Alcoa, she was a marketing consultant, a senior vice president for Mitchell, a Dentsu-owned Public Relations agency, and was a director of global associate communications, among other roles, for Walmart. Earlier in her career she led communications for International Paper's Texarkana Mill and was a newspaper reporter for a regional daily.

Keeney has a bachelor's degree in mass communications from Southern Arkansas University at Magnolia and a master's in communication from Jones International University. Amanda and her family make their home in Texarkana, Texas.
