Henry A. Brown
Director, Grid Modernization
Henry Brown, director of Grid Modernization, is focused on improving the overall customer experience through better system reliability, performance and communication through initiatives ranging from commissioning smart grid technologies to integrating electric vehicle charging infrastructure. He also leads the company's Meter Revenue Operations organization.
Over Brown's 43-year career, he has served as a meter reader; a meter electrician; a supervisor of meter electricians for the Shreveport and Longview districts; a Customer Services supervisor; a manager of Field Activities for SWEPCO and AEP; and as the manager of Meter Revenue Operations. Brown earned a diploma in Electrical Engineering from National Education Training Group and Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Management from Wiley College.
Brown serves as a mentor and life coach for adults and children, as a Sunday School teacher and the chairman of the Benevolence Committee at the Russell Rd Church of Christ; and has served as Disaster Relief Program Coordinator for flood victims in North Louisiana. He volunteers with Girl Scout Troop 1303 of the Northern Lights Service Unit #117, United Way of Northwest Louisiana, and Life Share Blood Bank. He is a long-time supporter of the Women and Children Shelter, Feist-Weiller Cancer Center, St. Jude Research Hospital, and Shriners Hospitals for Children. He is a member of the Strand Theatre and Robinson Film Center. He also has served as a board member of the West Shreveport Little League and as president of the Board of Directors for SWECA Credit Union.
Brown and his wife, Marion, live in Shreveport. They have three adult children and five grandchildren.
