SWEPCO Storm Drill Highlights Emergency Preparedness and Grid Investments

SWEPCO crews recently gathered in Bossier City, La. for a full-scale storm response drill, simulating a severe ice storm across its service territory. The exercise brought together teams from across Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas to test readiness and coordination.

The drill included pre-staging crews, activating communication channels, and developing a restoration plan. Modeled after a real storm, the scenario helped SWEPCO identify ways to improve response time and customer communication.

“Storms are unpredictable,” said Brett Mattison, SWEPCO President and COO. “This training helps us prepare for the unexpected so we can continue in our mission to keep the lights on and the power flowing to all our customers.”
