I want to be clear about our approach: large customers will pay their share of the costs needed to serve them. Protecting our customers is at the center of every decision we make.
Our region is growing, and we are seeing more interest from large energy users. These projects bring jobs and investment to our communities, which is a positive step forward. At the same time, they often require new power plants and upgrades to our system. When we make these investments, we do so with a focus on keeping the grid strong, reliable, and ready to meet everyone’s needs—now and in the future.
We appreciate Governor Landry’s efforts to support economic growth in Louisiana. We believe this growth should benefit our communities without placing extra costs on our customers. Our policy is straightforward: growth pays for growth. Large customers cover the cost of the system infrastructure and power needed to serve them. We work closely with regulators to make sure costs are assigned fairly and do not shift to existing customers. We also structure agreements that contain various protections for our existing customers.
This approach protects you from paying more for new demand while still allowing our communities to grow. It also helps us make the most of our resources and manage costs more effectively for all customers.
