We're Here for You During This Extreme Heat

August 17, 2026

Across Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas, communities are experiencing prolonged periods of sweltering summer heat.

To help customers stay safe and comfortable, SWEPCO is suspending residential disconnections for nonpayment through the end of the week.

While the rules for service disconnections during extreme weather are different in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas, SWEPCO is taking this additional step across our service area because keeping customers safe is our top priority.

Heat Safety Reminders

Extreme heat can quickly become dangerous. We encourage customers to:

  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Stay in air-conditioned or cool environments whenever possible.
  • Limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon temperatures.
  • Watch for signs of heat exhaustion.
  • Check on elderly relatives, neighbors and others who may need assistance.
