SWEPCO 2019 Louisiana Integrated Resource Plan (IRP)

Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) has initiated its Integrated Resource Planning process, and plans to issue its final Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) report to the Louisiana Public Service Commission (LPSC) in July 2019. The IRP is a 20-year plan that outlines the energy resources that SWEPCO plans to secure to serve its existing and future customers. The IRP serves to inform the Commission and interested parties about the anticipated costs and other considerations of various resource options, as well as SWEPCO’s preferred plan. The plan does not commit to any specific investment decision, nor is it a commitment to a specific course of action. It is simply a snapshot of the future at a given point in time.

Stakeholder Engagement

SWEPCO has established a stakeholder engagement process, pursuant to the Louisiana Integrated Resource Plan rules. Interested parties are invited to register and to participate in the planning or review process before the plan is submitted to the LPSC.

SWEPCO has three objectives for the stakeholder engagement process:

  • Listen: Understand resource planning concerns and objectives of stakeholders.
  • Inform: Increase stakeholder understanding of the Integrated Resource Plan process, key assumptions and the challenges facing SWEPCO and the electric utility industry.
  • Consider: Provide a forum for productive stakeholder feedback at key points in the Integrated Resource Plan process to inform SWEPCO’s resource planning decision making.

Stakeholder Meetings

SWEPCO seeks interested parties’ input through two stakeholder meetings.

Meeting 1: July 25, 2018

The first IRP Stakeholders’ meeting is scheduled to be held on July 25, 2018. Meeting 2: January 2019

The second stakeholder meeting will be held in January of 2019.
