SWEPCO volunteers joined hundreds of volunteers across Northwest Louisiana for United Way's annual Day of Caring.
On May 14, SWEPCO employees joined hundreds of volunteers across Northwest Louisiana for United Way’s annual Day of Caring, putting the company’s Power for Good spirit into action through service, teamwork, and community pride.
SWEPCO volunteers assisted the American Red Cross with a long list of projects that made an immediate difference. The team washed, vacuumed, and detailed vehicles; cleaned interiors and windows.
In addition, volunteers moved furniture, reorganized storage areas, cleared out unused items, and cleaned closets, cabinets, and workspaces to help the site operate more efficiently.
“Every year, I am amazed by the dedication, heart, and pride that SWEPCO employees bring to United Way’s Day of Caring,” said Customer Services Coordinator Twila Dunlap.
The day was not all work and no play.
The annual Day of Caring kicked off with a pep rally breakfast that included a Second Line featuring SWEPCO volunteers in utility vests and hard hats carrying a powerline-themed float brought to life by the artistic vision of Customer Services Account Representative Miranda Nunnery.
SWEPCO volunteers assisted the American Red Cross with a host of projects.
The handheld float featured tall poles wrapped in colorful string lights led by a SWEPCO service truck driven by Louie the Lightning Bug. The creativity behind the SWEPCO second line helped the team reclaim the coveted Spirit Award. Given to teams that demonstrate outstanding energy, creativity, and community pride, the award went to SWEPCO in back-to-back years: 2023 and 2024.
Through service, teamwork, and creativity, SWEPCO employees showed how we Power for Good by making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve.
