As thousands of Razorback fans gathered for the University of Arkansas' first home football game of the season, Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) was recognized for its support of a scholarship program that is creating new opportunities for Arkansas students.

The SWEPCO Foundation is the inaugural corporate sponsor of the first cohort of Land of Opportunity Scholars, supporting a transformative scholarship program that welcomed its first class this fall.

The Land of Opportunity Scholarship helps close the gap between financial aid and the cost of attending the University of Arkansas for high-achieving, Pell-eligible students from all 75 Arkansas counties. By reducing financial barriers and providing support from enrollment through graduation, the program expands access to higher education and helps students succeed. The scholarship program surpassed its initial goal of supporting 100 students, welcoming 102 scholars in its first cohort this fall.

On Saturday, SWEPCO employees connected with students, alumni and fans the HogTown tailgate to share information about the scholarship and its impact on future generations of Arkansans.

The partnership was highlighted throughout game day, with 15-second features on the stadium's Jumbotron before kickoff and during halftime showcasing the Land of Opportunity Scholars Powered by SWEPCO.

One of the day's signature moments came during halftime, when SWEPCO President Brett Mattison received the game ball in recognition of the company's support of the University of Arkansas and sponsorship of the scholarship program.

The partnership reflects SWEPCO's broader Power for Good commitment to advancing education and workforce development across the communities it serves.
