At SWEPCO, energy powers more than homes. It powers stronger communities.
The event was part of a series of community outreach efforts funded through a SWEPCO Foundation grant awarded to Harvest Regional Food Bank earlier this year. The grant supports mobile food pantry and energy assistance events across southwest Arkansas, combining food security assistance with information and tools to help families manage energy costs.
Several families received fresh food boxes through Harvest's mobile food pantry. In addition, SWEPCO volunteers provided information about bill assistance programs, flexible payment options such as Pay As You Go, and practical energy-saving tips that can help customers reduce monthly energy expenses.
Employees from several areas of the company, including Line Operations, Customer Services, External Affairs, and Corporate Communications, worked alongside community partners to assist residents and answer questions about available energy resources.
Each participating household also received energy-efficient LED light bulbs, giving families a simple way to lower energy use and save money at home.
For SWEPCO employees, the day highlighted the impact that can be made when local organizations, volunteers, and community members come together around a shared purpose.
"Seeing our employees come together to help others was incredibly rewarding," said Lisa Thompson, SWEPCO External Affairs Manager. "By partnering with local organizations, we helped provide relief for families and demonstrated our commitment to the communities we serve."
The Murfreesboro event reflects SWEPCO's Power for Good commitment by bringing energy beyond the meter through charitable giving, employee volunteerism, and trusted community partnerships.
The partnership with Harvest Regional Food Bank continues Sept. 16 with another SWEPCO Foundation-sponsored mobile food pantry and energy assistance event in Lockesburg, Arkansas.
By working together to address both immediate needs and long-term energy affordability, SWEPCO and its partners are helping build stronger, more resilient communities across southwest Arkansas.
