Longview, Texas — Southwestern Electric Power Company employees from the Customer Services & Marketing and External Affairs teams recently volunteered at the East Texas Food Bank Longview Resource Center Powered by SWEPCO Foundation, supporting pantry operations and connecting with neighbors who rely on the center’s services.
Volunteers supported pantry operations by stocking produce, assisting community members as they selected eligible items, and helping load groceries for seniors and families. The team also spent time engaging with visitors, offering encouragement and support.
Twila Dunlap, who coordinated the volunteer effort, said the experience was a reminder of how much a few hours of service can mean to someone else.
“Every person who walked through the door had a story,” she said. “Being able to help them shop, answer questions or just share a conversation made the day feel incredibly meaningful for all of us.”

The volunteer event follows the February announcement of a new collaboration between the East Texas Food Bank and the SWEPCO Foundation, which includes naming rights for the Longview Resource Center. The partnership supports ETFB’s mission to address hunger in Gregg County, where 23,050 residents — including 8,850 children — face food insecurity. Last year, ETFB provided 1.5 million meals to neighbors in need.
Through service, teamwork, and creativity, SWEPCO employees showed how we Power for Good by making a meaningful difference in the communities we serve.
