Wilkes Power Plant Administrator Sr. Alice Cogburn drops off school supplies purchased with proceeds from the plant's annual pancake breakfast.
From the griddle to the classroom, Wilkes Power Plant employees recently served up a fresh stack with a side of community service — raising funds and delivering school supplies to help Avinger Independent School District students start the year strong.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Wilkes team hosted its annual pancake breakfast, bringing employees together for a great cause: raising funds to support Avinger students. Thanks to the generosity and participation of the team, this year’s event raised $606.
Following the fundraiser, Administrator Senior Alice Cogburn coordinated and purchased a variety of supplies, ensuring students would be equipped with essential materials for the upcoming school year.
“The culture at Wilkes is about helping our community wherever and whenever we can,” said Plant Manager Pete Civitarese. “It’s been an honor to provide support for the fourth year in a row to Avinger ISD.”
