CURRENT SITUATION
SWEPCO has fully restored service in Arkansas and Texas, with both states now back to normal operations. Customers in the Shreveport area are seeing service return to normal today, with only a few new storm related outages appearing as crews continue to address lingering damage.
Restoration efforts are now concentrated in the Natchitoches service territory, where 6,403 customers remain without power. Mansfield, La and Hornbeck, La. have extensive damage in hard-to-reach areas and difficult terrains. Workers are on the ground braving dangerous conditions to make progress.
To accelerate progress, SWEPCO has brought in a large force of trained lineworkers, tree crews, and specialized restoration teams from across the nation who have mobilized in the area to work tirelessly to get power back on as quickly and safely as possible. Crews from Longview and Shreveport are deploying to the Natchitoches service territory today, ensuring that the majority of SWEPCO’s available workforce is focused on bringing power back to Natchitoches and surrounding communities.
While restoration is moving forward, heavy ice and tree damage and continued tree hazards mean some locations will take more time. In some cases, damage to customer-owned service equipment such as weather heads or meter bases may require repair by a licensed electrician before power can be safely restored.
We understand how difficult extended outages can be and we appreciate your patience. Our crew remain fully committed to making more progress and restoring power to every customer affected as quickly and safely as possible.
