Southwestern Electric Power Company was honored by the Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce with their 'Industry of the Year' Award.
The announcement was made during the Chamber's annual Business and Industries Awards Luncheon inside the Marshall, TX Convention Center on January 25, 2023.
"Storms like June 16 remind us how important our product is," stated SWEPCO External Affairs Manager Mark Robinson who accepted the award along with a host of other SWEPCO team members from the Marshall and Longview offices.
Mark further shared with the hundreds in attendance how 4,000 additional crew members responded from a number of SWEPCO's sister operating companies from across the country in the restoration effort.
"It also reminded us of the importance of our community," continued Mark.
"You, as a community, responded with the most grace and love that I've ever experienced from a community," added Mark, who bragged on how many communities across east Texas pulled together to help one another until power could be fully restored.
The June storm, with winds in excess of 100 miles per hour, resulted in unprecedented damage to the SWEPCO transmission system.
