SWEPCO Names Michael D. Corbin External Affairs Manager in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. (May 1, 2018) – Michael D. Corbin will join Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO), a unit of American Electric Power (AEP), as the External Affairs Manager in Shreveport, serving Northwest Louisiana. Corbin will work with local communities and collaborate with stakeholders on issues concerning local economic development, government, business, education, emergency service coordination and other community needs. Corbin succeeds John Hubbard, who will retire from his position in June after 48 years of service with SWEPCO.

Currently, Corbin serves Shreveport citizens as their elected official on the city council, representing 25,000 residents in District D through the end of this year. During his time on the council, he served on the audit and finance, infrastructure, riverfront/downtown and public safety committees. During his professional career, Corbin worked in business development and business relations for companies within the healthcare, insurance and finance industries as well as a business consultant for municipalities, banks and educational institutions.

In 2013, Corbin served as chairman of the Shreveport City Council and has chaired the audit and finance committee since 2010.

Corbin earned a Master of Arts in Human Relations and Supervision from Louisiana Tech University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Centenary College of Louisiana.
